"Femi-Nazi."
What a stupid term! The men who must have coined the term are probably the ignorant, pig-headed types who think that any woman who won't have sex with them is a lesbian, but the girls and women who think that feminism is stupid or useless are an even bigger problem than all the idiotic men out there in the whole, wide world! Most young women today seem to think that being a feminist means that you must sacrifice good manners or your dreams of being a stay-at-home-mother (if that's what you want). That's just not the case, though! Being a feminist means demanding respect for doing the same things that men do, like being just as respected (and well-paid) for being a brilliant teacher, athlete, doctor, mechanic, chess player, or whatever, as a man of that occupation would be. Being a feminist also means not letting men use stupid excuses like "boys will be boys" or, in the U.S. Army's case, that women can't be in active combat because the male soldiers would be "distracted" by the female soldiers; frankly, all people are generally too selfish to worry about preserving anyone's life but their own, let alone men. Women shouldn't need to be distinguished from men in sporting events, either! I play with the boys quite often and I beat them at their own games more often than not, and those men get angry with me when I win, but not when bested by other men. We've come all this way and boys still can't lose to girls gracefully?
What's that about?
No, being a feminist does not make you a lesbian, it does not mean you can't let a man politely hold a door open for you (however, I often hold doors open for both men and women, it's just a polite thing to do for other people), but it does mean that you should be treated equally by them, after all, the Civil Rights movement taught us that "separate but equal" doesn't work, I don't think it works with gender double standards, either. In all fairness, women should pay for a date now and then, but I think the person who invites the other out on the date should be the one to pay, so if the gentleman asks-- he pays, the woman-- she pays. Simple, fair.
Life isn't fair, I know. If it were fair we wouldn't be expected to sacrifice everything for home and family, but we still are. We may be able to vote, but women still have a long way to go.
Thank you for reading my tirade.
