On Sunday we're shifting ourselves and the many worldly possessions we've managed to reaccumulate since Hurricane Katrina to my parents' house in Bucktown! In a way, I'm looking forward to moving in with them, although I know my mom and I are bound to have struggles the longer we're living under the same roof and I will miss Sunny and Sayuri, who are inside-only cats and will need to live with friends while we're there (my dad is allergic to cats).
I haven't heard back from The_Ugly_Knight about the appliances and furniture he wanted, so the sofa and table are going to the curb and the washer and dryer will just be left behind unless he shows up to move them in the morning or early afternoon! I tried to be nice, but I just can't wait for him to make up his mind.
I still have plenty I need to do around here, because we were held up by a funeral Carl forgot about, but fortunately his sister gave us a call this morning to make sure we were coming. His aunt's fiance died of what we believe was heat stroke a couple weeks ago, because the hospital sent him away without treating him. The funeral was very sad, because Clarence was just so nice and he and Carl's aunt were going to be married in July. His father spoke for a long time at the church service, which was nice; he seems to have come to terms with his son's death, but I would be ravenously trying to sue the hospital to ensure that no one else in Clarence's condition is ever sent away without treatment! ANY hospital in New Orleans should know enough about heat stroke to be able to treat it properly!
I think I did pretty well with this move, because there isn't a whole lot that I'll need to take care of at the last possible moment, but there's still plenty to be done. Is it even possible to get absolutely everything in order in time for a move?
