I'm extremely sleep-deprived, but I'm certainly not complaining; the last two weeks have been wonderful and I'm looking forward to the days and weeks and all the milestones to come with Miranda. So I don't drive those of you who read this totally batty, I will be putting all my Miranda-related posts (of which I'm sure there will be very many!) behind a cut; there's nothing quite so boring as a parent who goes on and on about their children, so I'll let y'all choose when you'd like to be subjected to that sort of thing.

We're going to Miranda's first doctor's appointment this morning! I'm hoping she'll have gained some weight back, but I know it can take as long as six weeks for some breast fed babies to regain their birth weight and I know she's eating well, so I won't be overly concerned if she hasn't gained much weight yet.

Miranda seems to have a bit of thrush, which might be making her a little fussy, so I'll be glad to have Dr. Robinson look at that this morning. Miranda is a very good baby, but for the last several days she's been restless and almost totally unable to sleep unless she's being held; it could just be a normal change in her behavior, but it could also be that the thrush is making her uncomfortable.

Cloth diapers are working out well for us so far, although we only started using them this weekend; since Miranda arrived two weeks early I hadn't prepared the diapers ahead of time and I just had the time and presence of mind to do it on Saturday. I ordered a few diaper covers and some more pre-folds to make cloth diapering more convenient for us and so we can avoid disposables (almost) entirely (I'll keep some around for emergencies). The cloth diapers are great because I can tell when she's wet right away and change her immediately; although most of the time she pees as we're changing a poopy diaper, anyway, and we can tell when she's trying to poop, because she grunts and screws her little face up. Eventually I want to begin "elimination communication" in addition to cloth diapering, but I'm going to wait until she can hold her head up herself.
