Since Kiet made a deal with a Deathlord I had to make a new Solar. This time I made an Eclipse Caste, my second favorite kind of Solar.

Keep in mind that not all of this has been 'okayed' by the GM yet, but her concept is cool enough that I think [livejournal.com profile] the_ugly_knight  won't have a problem with any of it.

History: The oldest of ten children, Kismet was largely responsible for her younger sibling’s upbringing. Because of her incredible beauty she was not required to learn to hunt or complete any especially labor-intensive chores, but Kismet did not let her appearance become a handicap: She was fascinated with the forests in which she grew up and was already considered a skilled apothecary by the time she was fourteen and was also already learning to tame wild beasts.

However, just days before her next birthday Kismet’s life was changed irrevocably. It was the first day of Calibration that the demon came for her, sent from Malfeas by an even more powerful master to capture another in a long line of concubines snatched from the mortal world. Foolishly, Kismet had come to believe that nothing in her forest home could harm her and so walked alone and without fear beneath the city in the trees during that time. For hours the Hunter demon stalked through Chanta unseen, but without finding any quarry worthy of presenting to its master. Because the demon hunted in the treetop city for his master’s prize Kismet might have escaped, but Fate intervened and the demon finally spotted her foraging for unusual mushrooms at the forest floor. When the demon pounced upon the girl she reacted as any mortal would by attempting to flee, but escape was impossible and eventually she collapsed from exhaustion. When next she woke it was to the sickly light of the green sun of Malfeas where she would remain for the next thirty-six years.

Fortunately for Kismet, her demon master and lover was not nearly as cruel as some and even allowed her some measure of freedom, although she was forbidden from ever returning to Creation. So that she might travel with relative safety through the demon world Kismet was marked with her master’s sigil, a magical glyph that signals to other demons, Yozis, Ghosts, and the like that she is a friend and the precious property of her demon master. However, the glyph also has the inconvenient side effect of making her vulnerable to sorceries designed to ward against or harm her master.

During her time in Malfeas Kismet eventually accepted her fate and the demon’s offer of marriage for which she was rewarded with knowledge. She also studied sorcery under the pretense of better serving him and gave birth to three Demon-Blooded children, two of whom still live and serve their father. It was after her husband murdered her oldest child before her eyes that Kismet Exalted, suddenly burning with a glorious, new light. Even with the power of the Unconquered Sun suddenly at her disposal she was not yet powerful enough to exact revenge for the murder of her son and was quickly overpowered. At this time she was forty-eight, but she did not finally escape Malfeas until five years later and then only with the help of two minor demons who had come to care for her during their many years as her servants.

Upon her escape Kismet immediately returned to Chanta in an attempt to reconnect with whatever family she might have left. She was disappointed to discover that after her disappearance her family had become quite poor and her younger sister, now head matron, had been forced to give a number of her children over to the holy men and women of the Thousand Trees Monastery which had recently been destroyed; all of the children who had become monks or nuns there were accounted for, save her sister’s youngest son, Kiet. Since then Kismet has set out to find Kiet, while also avoiding her husband’s wrath and considering the possibility of revenge. She has followed rumors that have led her to the north and to believe that her nephew is also one of the Chosen of the Unconquered Sun.

Description: Kismet Aran is an elegantly tall, beautiful older woman whose apparent frailty belies her strength and vitality. Kismet prefers to dress in only the finest silks, usually in varying shades of green that remind her of her eastern home. She always wears her long, black hair done up in a series of complicated braids styled by one of her demonic servants, and while she is vain about her hair she does not dye it and is actually proud of the few streaks of gray that twine through her braids. Although it is invisible to mortal eyes, Kismet is always careful to hide a demonic glyph etched into her fair skin in black beneath a wide gold bracelet that she rarely removes from her right arm. She wears an orichalcum Dragon-Tear Tiara that is set with onyx to bring out her black eyes.

Gear: Kismet prefers to avoid confrontation, but if pressed she will fight with either her Dire Lance or her paired Lightning Torment Hatchets. Her armor is a simple orichalcum breastplate and she wears a Dragon-Tear Tiara of orichalcum set with onyx, as she was unable to escape Malfeas with any hearthstones. Her familiars are a trained, white cat called "Hope" and a talking raven who identifies himself as "Bitterness." She is constantly attended by two, minor demons insignificant enough to escape her husband’s notice and who appear vaguely human.

Personality: She is naturally curious about nearly everything and has a great appreciation for the beauty and wonder of Creation. She is fairly vain and well aware of the effect her appearance can have on others, something she will not hesitate to exploit. Although she feels lonely with only demons and animals for companions, Kismet is hesitant to trust and reluctant to make friends or form alliances. By focusing on finding Kiet she avoids thinking too often about her own son and daughter, who often frightened her with their unavoidable strangeness.

Kismet is one of my favorite names. I'm glad you used it, and I'm going to have to add her to my list of People to Doll. I recently discovered a new way to do two-toned hair, so I'll put her at the top of the list. :) I can't wait to meet her, and can't wait to see you play an Eclipse Caste. You also get a +1 for the Dire Lance.

::smiles.:: Nimuë will be cautious until she finds out she's Kiet's aunt. "Malfeas? Kiet's aunt? That's okay!"

I wonder if Kismet will nag her about summoning ..
