Going Home

Going back to New Orleans tomorrow, I can't wait. I'm not too thrilled about going to look at the house, but it has to be done; I'm going to see if there's anyway to salvage any of my clothes, but I'm not being too optimistic.

I'll still miss losing all my art, books, comics, and graphic novels the most, not to mention all the special, irreplaceable gifts I'd been given over the years. Next time I'm forced to run from a hurricane those will be the things I take with me.

I often feel disgusted with myself for how easily tired I am, but it's always been that way with me; Only on the rarest of occasions to I have the level of energy that I think I should have everyday and today was not one of those occasions. By the time we got back to Aunt Joye's I just had to sleep for a couple hours, I was nearly falling asleep sitting up.

We bought a futon, which we have to pick up tomorrow on our way out of town, sheets, a blanket, and a bedspread to go with it, but we forgot to get any pillows, so we'll be getting a couple after breakfast tomorrow.

We had to go out to Katy, Texas so the man could drop something off at another Connectivity Source, so I made him swing by the mall out there so I could get some more paint pens from San Rio; I disliked them at first, but then discovered that checks written with them can't be washed clean, so I had to get some more. Yes, I am paranoid like that.

Other than that, we just went to a PetsMart to get anything we might need for the animals in the next couple of weeks and restocked my aunt's pantry a bit. Tomorrow we're going to vacuum, sweep, and generally straighten up around the house so she won't have to do any of that when she gets back from Croatia on Monday. We're also going to leave her about five hundred dollars to cover any extra expenses she might have incurred for having guests for so long— I know she'll at least appreciate some help with the phone bill.
