August is still almost a half a year away, but I'm already dreading it; I've never been really nervous about hurricane season before, but now I'm actually a little afraid. We're not even close to being back on our feet yet and we only have half a year to prepare (to what extent we can) for the next big one.

I can't worry about it, though, because there's not really much I can do that I'm not already doing. I've just got to keep keeping up with the news, lobbying for progress and better levees, and rebuilding my own life.

From the beginning I was pretty certain that our house would end up under water, totally flooded, and now there's no uncertainty left at all: I've seen the satellite images and our neighborhood is under water nearly to the rooftops.

Still, some uncertainty remains: we don't know when we're going home, or even if we are. If we do go home we aren't sure where we'll live, we're not sure if FEMA will give us the money to pay off our mortgage or not. We don't know where we'll work or how we'll get by, but I am certain that we'll manage somehow and that we'll have the full support of both our families and all our friends; For those things and so much more we are truly blessed.
